The Department of Criminal Justice at California State University, Sacramento seeks a part-time Graduate Assistant.

 

  1. Position Summary

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Graduate Assistant (GA) to support a qualitative research project. The GA will assist with learning and applying coding techniques in ATLAS.ti, conducting literature searches, and supporting the analysis of qualitative data (e.g., interviews, documents, focus group transcripts). This position is ideal for a graduate student interested in gaining hands-on research experience with qualitative methodologies and software tools.

Eligibility Requirements:

Undergraduate Students

     Unit Load: 6 min – 15 max per semester

     GPA Minimum: 2.50 (overall), newly admitted students: 2.50 GPA

Graduate Students

     Unit Load: 4 min – 12 max per semester

     GPA Minimum: 3.00 (overall), newly admitted students: 2.75 GPA

Minimum qualifications:

  • Knowledge and Abilities:
    Knowledge of the subject matter of the discipline in which assigned. Ability to relate well to others within the academic environment; ability to supervise, assist, and train students; and ability to assist faculty in the conduct of special projects/research within the discipline.

  • Experience: For the initial appointment, evidence of satisfactory achievement in previous academic work. For subsequent appointment, evidence of satisfactory progress toward completion of the degree.

  • Education: Equivalent to completion of the requirements for a bachelor’s degree and registration in a CSU graduate degree program.
