PARC Supplemental Instruction Leader

| Under the direct supervision of the Faculty Director of Supplemental Instruction (SI), SI Leaders are responsible for planning and teaching two 50-minute or 60-minute SI classes via Zoom or in-person each week based on the Kansas City SI Model. SI Leaders must have passed the course they wish to be an SI Leader for and must be willing to partner with a faculty member to provide SI for their course. SI Leaders must be in frequent communication with the faculty member they are providing support for. SI Leaders must attend all class lectures, recruit students from the GE course to enroll in SI, maintain student performance data, submit weekly lesson plans, conduct and undergo peer-observations/observations from SI Leads or the Faculty Director, attend weekly trainings, and host office hours throughout the week.

The tutor also must be able to attend all required meetings and tutorial training sessions and to participate in at least two PARC sponsored events. Tutors must also provide tutoring to students that seek services in-person or online via Zoom. Tutors may also be asked to provide workshops across campus to the campus community and table at resource fairs/campus events to represent PARC.

PARC Workshop Facilitators build awareness of PARC’s mission, values, and its services through speaking engagements and workshop presentations. Workshop Facilitators consult with the Faculty Directors and Staff on a regular basis and attend weekly meetings.
PARC offers a variety of academic and professional development workshops—such as Time Management, Study Skills, Self-Care, and culturally relevant sessions like Sankofa. All workshops are designed to support student success regardless of background or identity.
