About the Program: 

The Martin V. Smith School of Business & Economics at CSU Channel Islands seeks to cultivate a learning environment that fosters excellence in business and economics education to prepare students to effectively engage with the ever-changing dynamics of organizational landscapes. The Martin V. Smith School of Business & Economics is currently pursuing AACSB accreditation; as such, it follows a teacher/scholar model in accordance with AACSB standards. All instructional faculty are expected to meet and maintain AACSB standards of faculty qualification throughout their service at the University. Faculty appointments require that professional or scholarly currency be sustained through continued intellectual contributions or professional engagement activities. 

About the Position: 

The Martin V. Smith School of Business & Economics at CSU Channel Islands is seeking applications for adjunct faculty to teach graduate-level courses in the Master of Science in Business Analytics (MSBA) program beginning Spring 2026. 

Appointments are temporary lecturer roles, assigned based on program and cohort needs. Courses may be offered in person, hybrid, or online, and faculty are expected to engage with students in ways that support a collaborative, applied-learning environment consistent with AACSB standards and the mission of CSUCI. 

Minimum Degree Requirements:
  • Master’s degree in Business Analytics, Data Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a closely related discipline. 
  • Significant, current (5+ years) professional experience in applied analytics, business intelligence, or related areas.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in graduate-level teaching experience or equivalent training/mentoring.
  • Evidence of ongoing professional engagement or development in the field.
  • Commitment to inclusive and mission-aligned teaching practices. 

Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Business Analytics, Data Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a closely related discipline. 
  • Significant, current (5+ years) professional experience in applied analytics, business intelligence, or related areas. 
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in graduate-level teaching experience or equivalent training/mentoring. 
  • Evidence of ongoing professional engagement or development in the field. 
  • Commitment to inclusive and mission-aligned teaching practices. 
  • Applicants should demonstrate the ability to effectively engage with a broad student population and provide mentorship that supports student academic success.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Business Analytics, Data Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or closely related disciplines

  • Demonstrated ability to produce peer-reviewed research or intellectual contributions related to teaching assignment.

  • Graduate-level teaching and curriculum development experience.

  • Familiarity with generative AI tools in applied analytics.

  • Experience mentoring or advising graduate students.
Responsibilities:
  • Develop syllabus and deliver instruction in areas including Business Analytics Fundamentals, Python Programming, Machine Learning, Data Visualization, Business Data and Big Intelligence, Business Statistics for Data Analytics, and Generative AI, aligned with CSUCI’s MSBA curriculum. 
  • Evaluate student work and provide meaningful feedback; manage course content and assessments. 
  • Hold regular virtual or in-person office hours. 
  • Collaborate with MSBA program leadership to maintain curriculum quality and cohesion.

California State University Lecturer Salary (Academic Year) Schedules can be found at

Placement into a range is based on qualifications and experience. Initial assignments are typically at the bottom third of the salary range. The full-time (15 units per semester) monthly base salaries indicated in the schedules above are prorated to the number of units worked and are paid in six monthly payments for each full semester.
