The Department of the Peer & Academic Resource Center (PARC) at California State University, Sacramento seeks a part-time ISA to assist with curating and presenting workshop presentations to courses.

Timeline:

Position Description

Under the direct supervision of faculty and staff coordinators at PARC, Sankofa Navigators will be responsible for the following:

  • Facilitating activities connecting to cultural identity.
  • Coordination of scheduling workshops through the Qualtrics site.
  • Curating materials for workshops on cultural identity.
  • Collect all workshop surveys and complete all responsibilities during a workshop (e.g., make sure participants receive survey workshop).
  • Facilitating general cultural workshop activities (e.g., membership profile, Framework of Intercultural Competence, and cultural artifacts)
  • Recruiting students for the cultural competence development activities and for tutoring/advising services for PARC
  • Building awareness of PARC’s mission and values and its services through speaking engagements and workshop presentations, including in-class workshops (or online).
  • Consulting with coordinators on a regular basis, especially for weekly meetings and individual conferences.
  • Attending pre-semester training sessions and mandatory trainings, and/or emergency meetings.
  • Communicating and collaborating with Resource Guides and staff and on a regular basis.

 

Eligibility Requirements:

Undergraduate Students

     Unit Load: 6 min – 15 max per semester

     GPA Minimum: 2.50 (overall), newly admitted students: 2.50 GPA

Graduate Students

     Unit Load: 4 min – 12 max per semester

     GPA Minimum: 3.00 (overall), newly admitted students: 2.75 GPA

Minimum qualifications:

  • Must have knowledge and some experience in presentation and facilitation skills
  • Ability to complete 30 hours of an Intercultural Competence Course
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Experience working with students from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds
  • Must be familiar with using basic online platforms (e.g. Zoom, Collaborative Whiteboards, Google Docs, Microsoft Teams, etc.) for online workshops and regular meetings
  • Ability to submit timesheets and all other payroll items in a timely manner.
  • Must be able to return emails in a timely manner.
  • Must have a flexible and open schedule to host a variety of workshops.
  • Must be open to learning culturally responsive instruction and accepting to other cultural identities
  • Must maintain confidentiality
